Walking Dead Star Norman Reedus to be Part of Silent Hills

SIlent Hill Reedus

Norman Reedus who is renowned for his performance of Daryl Dixon in the hit show The Walking Dead will be starring in the next big Silent Hill instalment which is being spear headed by the legendary Hideo Kojima.

Reedus didn’t give away much information but on a Reddit AMA he did state, “I’m super excited to be a part of that. Both those guys are geniuses at what they do. We haven’t shot the heavy stuff yet! Kojima approached me right after Guillermo did.”

We discovered that Reedus would be playing the games main protagonist after we completed the trying PT demo, immediately after completion of the demo a rewarding cutscene was showcased that displayed a confused Norman Reedus walking down what seems to be another deserted town that slightly resembles the original Silent Hill.

Call Of Duty Advanced Warfare Zombies Teaser Trailer

Today Activision the publishers of Call Of Duty released a never before seen trailer regarding Advanced Warfare’s upcoming zombie mode.

The trailer unleashes plenty of brand new information but the most enticing piece was the reveal of the playable characters that will be played by the legendary John Malkovich, Rose McGowan, Bill Paxton, and Jon Bernthal.

The four characters are employees at the private military company atlas and are completely unaware of the vicious brain munching undead that have been hidden in the bowels of scientific research labs.  As of now this mode will likely be following the style of story that Extinction offered up as a new episode of the storyline was released with each new DLC pack.

Techland Want Dying Light Reviews To Be As Transparent As Possible

dying-light

After controversy over more recent games embargo dates, Techland have said in a statement that Dying Light will be as transparent as possible.

Along with this Maciej Binkowski revealed that a demo for Dying Light is highly unlikely therefore the best way to get some early thoughts on the game is to read the games reviews.

Some other notable announcements from the ASK.FM session: (Questions in bold)

I know its a little early for talking about reviews, but a few games recently have been making the review embargos AFTER the release of the game, which is shady to say the least, will DLs review embargo be before the release date?

[updated]
No, we do not have embargoes of that nature. We want to be as transparent as we can towards our fans, so don’t worry – there won’t be any review embargoes AFTER the game is released.

Sorry I made a mistake. It was supposed to say “after the game is release” right from the start.

Are there collectables spread out the game world? I can imagine things getting stale after a while, i’m worried there won’t be enough to do in the game 😡

Yes there are collectibles. Don’t worry, there’s plenty of stuff to keep you occupied for looong hours.

Are there different stages of pursuit? Like in “Need for Speed – Most Wanted (the first). Because the red points next to the minimap looks like they mark how hard you are hunted.

You noticed! That’s awesome! Yes these red boxes are exactly that.

Why did you guys cut off some features? Couldn’t you delay the game for another couple of months?

It’s very easy to end up in a feature creep. This is very dangerous.
Game is never perfect and you always find stuff to improve.
At some point you have to say stop to yourself and just deliver a product.
Dying Light is released January 27th 2014 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

The Evil Within DLC Revealed

kidman

The Evil Within’s DLC has just been revealed and, ‘The Keeper’ will star Sebastian Castellanos’s partner Juli Kidman as she fights through the hordes of Haunted all in the name of a corporation called Mobius.

The games director  John Johanas said in a statement that Kidman will have a largely different play style compared to Sebastian.

“I would say she’s much livelier than Sebastian was in the main game.” “Her story is a bit more personal than his as well, so there’s a bit of banter and commentary as you play.” he continued.

It has also been revealed that the second part of the DLC will be called ‘The Consequence’ whilst the third and final DLC has still not been named but will allow you to play as The Keeper AKA Box Head.

You can get all three DLCs through the season pass that will cost $20 but the individual pricing has yet to be revealed.

There’s Still More Captain Toad to Come

Captain Toad is fast becoming Nintendo’s answer to the Despicable Me Minions and Rayman’s Rabbids.

Captain Toad and his brigade have been a part of Nintendo’s universe since Super Mario Galaxy back on the Wii. Generally his role was similar to Toad’s in Super Mario 64: hang out, get in trouble, complain, and periodically throw stars at you. Pretty inconsequential in the grand scheme of things.

This intrepid captain then became a playable character in a series of equally pointless minigames in last year’s Super Mario 3D World on the Wii U. I say pointless but they were somewhat charming. Basically, these involved moving Captian Toad around the level, rotating the camera to see different perspectives and solve the puzzles.

Barely a year after this, the captain was made the star of his own game: Captain Toad’s Treasure Tracker. A game that Japan got in November, America’s been playing it for about a week now but for which us in Australia will be waiting until January. From all accounts, this is an expanded version of the minigames we played last year.

For anyone who was hoping that this would be the last time we see the captain of the Toads, I’m afraid you’re going to have to think again. At this point it’s looking like Nintendo are going to look for ways to bring Captain Toad towards the front of their game library. Whether this is a good thing or a bad thing is tough to say.

cttt 3

My stance on Captain Toad’s upcoming ubiquity is that Nintendo is going to cram another terrible joke down our throats like they did with the Mii. I’ll concede that being able to play as yourself in Wii Sports is pretty cool and a great way to ingratiate the game with family members and non-gamer friends. Taking up character slots in games where roster space is at a premium, such as Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros, with Mii is just inane. Mario already plays the part of the middle-of-the-road all-rounder.

cttt 5

Something with such a homely start, like Captain Toad, has spiralled out of control and Nintendo won’t let us forget it. I worry that the captain is going to go the same way and, in two or three years time, we’ll be fighting as Captain Toad in the next instalment of Smash Bros or seeing a crossover into Hyrule Warriors.

Conversely, though, Captain Toad is probably Nintendo’s greatest weapon to bring young gamers into the fold in recent times. His trademark gameplay is simple with plenty of room for variety and there’s a real cutesy charm to the art direction. Captain Toad may also be Nintendo’s way to crack into the mobile game market as the diorama puzzle genre lends itself to a smart phone.

Captain Toad

While I wait for Captain Toad’s Treasure Tracker to hit Australian shores, I sit in anxious uncertainty about the quality of the game. If it’s good, this prophecy of impending prolificacy may not be the worst thing in the world. I can put up with it if the gameplay is of a sufficient quality. If, however, it’s a rehash of the same levels found in Super Mario 3D World, it’s not looking good for Captain Toad’s reappearance.
