Treyarch have revealed the next game in the Call of Duty franchise; Black Ops 3.
Black Ops 3
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be set in 2060 “in a dark, twisted future”, 35 years after the events of Black Ops 2. Here man and machine are virtually one, making technological combat seamless and adding new features to the game.
Among the new changes is character movement. You now have a rechargeable power bar which allows the player to to thrust in any direction for a period of time, and also run along walls. There is also a more direct focus on ‘boots on the ground’ style combat, reflecting the consequences of the Black Ops 2 campaign, as after the drone attacks of 2025 the United States military found aerial assaults too much of a liability.
Another new feature in multiplayer is create a camo, called ‘paint jobs’. This basically means that you can now further customise the look of your weapon by using the emblem editor to compliment and contrast regular camos that appear on your gun. Speaking of which you can now create your own variants for use in the create a class menu. Treyarch have also revealed 3 multiplayer maps, along with their returning Zombies mode.
Story mode can now be played in co-op with three other players similar to the World at War days, and features it’s own progression system and more customisation for enhanced replayability. Players can now choose the look and gender of their character, something which in the past hasn’t been done, as you have always played through someone else’s shoes.
The game will be playable at E3 in June, and will feature an open beta later in the year.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on November 6th.
