In a post made on the official Diablo III website, Blizzard announced that the game will not feature PVP at launch. Instead, it will be added via a patch after the game’s official release. According to the post, Blizzard decided that the PVP systems weren’t up to snuff, and that instead of delaying the launch of the game to fix it, they would launch the game, and continue to work on the PVP:
“While we work on making sure PvP lives up to its full potential, we hope you’ll find some consolation in the fact that soon, you’ll be having a blast leveling characters, finding items, learning the classes, and perfecting builds…and that when the Arenas do arrive, you’ll be all the better prepared for battle.”
The post also goes on to state that when PVP does launch, it will feature multiple Arena maps, achievements aimed specifically at PVP and a matchmaking system designed to allow you and your team to quickly and easily find matches that are balanced fairly. There will also be a personal progression system, so you can keep track of your stats and earn rewards for winning matches.
All this is well and good, but what caught my eye the most was the fact that the post said that we’d “soon be levelling our characters”. Does that mean a release date announcement is in the near future?
