CD Projekt RED Considering The Witcher 4

Witcher 3

CD Projekt RED is considering The Witcher 4, the developer admitted as it unveiled financial results in a recorded video last week.

Admitting that their vision for The Witcher was a neat trilogy, CD Projekt RED went on to say it was thinking about the possibility of a fourth game.

Fans of the series are divided on the news. Some want more time in that world and see The Witcher series one to return to, others see The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt along with the Blood & Wine DLC to be the perfect closure for Geralt.

The presentation goes into details on other CD Projekt RED games such as the progress of Cyberpunk 2077, the developer’s next RPG. Three times the amount of staff are working on Cyberpunk 2077 than its standalone Gwent title — more than 300 developers at last count — with work on the game proving “very intense”. Cyberpunk 2077 is the largest development team CD Projekt RED has ever had.

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is picking up hype as they recently announced a $100,000 tournament while still in Beta. If Gwent proves to be a success, CD Projekt RED may be looking to let us explore more of that world with further Witcher games.

You can watch the entire recording of the financial results below.

The news comes as CD Projekt RED detailed a technical beta for Gwent on PS4; it begins on 31 March and runs until 9 April.

What are your thoughts on the discussion? CD Projekt RED hasn’t made up their mind yet obviously, and we would be waiting until after Cyberpunk 2077 before any concrete announcements. Would you like to revisit Geralt’s world in a new Witcher game?
