Mass Effect Garrus in Doctor Who?

Doctor Who fans got a look at the upcoming season during the half-time break of the World Cup final. Some fans believe they may have seen an old friend.

There are a score of wacky CGI aliens to choose from but the one that stood out to gamers is this familiar looking face

Garrus in Doctor Who

The robot alien seen only for a moment has quite the resemblance to Normandy member; Garrus Vakarian of the Mass Effect series.

It’s unclear if this is intentional or just some kind of inspiration bleed-over effect. Perhaps the monster designer over at the BBC has been spending too much time on BioWare games. Look it’s probably just coincidence, but it’s a pretty awesome coincidence.

Even the alien’s blue eyes so overtly evoke Garrus’ famous headgear and the helmets the Blue Suns wore.

When Doctor Who airs in August, we’ll hopefully get to see more of this alien. Until then, probably don’t jump to any crazy conclusions about a shared world between The Doctor and Commander Shepard.
