Season 8 of Fortnite kicks off with a monstrous volcano erupting!
Freed from the Ice King’s castle, the now-powerful Prisoner has brought fire and flame to Fortnite and its islands.
Pirates, Ninjas and a ship load of new fighters will tussle over treasure, battle with Pirate Cannons and uncover legendary loot. For those daring enough to explore, the new Lazy Lagoon and Sunny Steps locations are just a jump away with the help of Volcanic Vents.
There’s a ton of new stuff for players for Season 8, including new areas and gameplay to explore in Battle Royale, new content for creators in Creative mode, and major updates to Save the World.
The biggest change is the addition of two new locations that have formed in the aftermath — Lazy Lagoon and Sunny Steps — which can be found in the northeast of the island, around the volcano that sprouted where Wailing Woods used to be.
There’s now lava to look out for, and volcanic vents that will give you a boost into the air. The snowy portion of the island that formed in season 7, meanwhile, is still in place leading to the most diverse iteration of the Fortnite island yet.
With the shift into wamer and more tropical elements, a number of the winter themed goodies are saying goodbye. Planes, ATKs, shopping carts, chiller grenades, and sneaky snowman disguises are all gone. You can check out the complete patch notes here.
A new season also means a new battle pass, these rewards are mostly related to the island or pirate theme going in season 8.
This season, you get the Blackheart and Hybrid progressive outfits instantly when you purchase the Battle Pass, both of which can level-up to unlock new styles.
New to Season 8: Party Assist! Before a match, you can pick a Daily or Weekly challenge and get assistance from your friends to help you complete it!

CREATIVE
Season 7 saw the increased effort of the Creative Mode for Fortnite fans to have fun outside of a pure Battle Royale setting. Season 8 continues this tradition with more content for creators.

SAVE THE WORLD
Play your way with the new Hero Loadout overhaul! Customize your playstyle by mixing-and-matching new and unique perks for each Hero.
Choose a Commander, five Support Team members, and one team perk to tailor the way you play.
Eight new, unique quests have also been added to the game, each unlocking a new Hero to add to your roster! More Heroes, more combos. Build your customized team, save your favorite presets, and prepare to Save the World.
