Today EA Games has announced a Star Wars Battlefront Beta to launch across Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC in early October.
The ‘technical test’ will feature Walker Assault on Hoth, a 40-player multiplayer battle featuring Rebels and the Empire. Walker Assault will also give you the chance to play as two of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars universe: Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. The Beta will also feature our Survival Mission on Tatooine, where you and a Rebel friend must fight back waves of Imperial forces.
In their announcement, EA acknowledge the hype that has been surrounding Star Wars Battlefront since its original reveal back in April.
Ever since we revealed Star Warsâ„¢ Battlefront™ in April at Star Warsâ„¢ Celebration, you’ve been asking us if there would be a Beta. Today, we are thrilled to finally be able to answer that question, and the answer is yes!
In addition to those two modes, EA games have announced a new ‘Drop Zone’ mode though there aren’t any other details currently. If you miss out on the Beta, Star Wars Battlefront will be playable at PAX Australia at the end of October.
Along with the Star Wars Battlefront Beta, EA have announced a Star Wars Battlefront Companion app for iOS and Android that will allow players to earn in-game credits that unlock Star Cards and weapons through the Base Command card game. In addition to Base Command, the Companion app also lets players check game stats and progression, customize load-outs and appearance, connect with friends.
