Meet Senior Stiv

Hello fellow game-playing ladies and gents. I would like to introduce myself; I am…Senior Stiv. As I can imagine some of you are scratching your heads due to the strange nickname. It was a fun nickname my Jewish roommates back in college came up for me. Essentially it’s the Israeli mispronunciation of my real name Steve. The ‘Senior’ part is just for fun.

I’ve been in love with video games ever since I was six. The moment that cemented it all was when I first wrapped my hands around a Sega Game Gear at my neighbors house. I was hooked the moment I started playing. I soon expanded to home consoles and I have remained a console player since with a current-gen Xbox 360. I’d like to be more involved with PC gaming, but sadly I don’t have the money for the hardware. However, this hasn’t prevented me from enjoying the ones I can play with my low-tech laptop. I’m currently putting time into Skyrim, Batman: Arkham City and a lot of replaying of last generation games. I still need to find something new to sink my teeth into for the next couple months, but I’m enjoying the games I have now and rediscovering those games I haven’t played for a while.

I dabble in all genres, but if there was ever a genre I subscribe to it would be RPG’s. My first introduction being The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. From there I graduated to more complex role-playing like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and The Elder Scrolls series.

Home sweet home.

But aside from video games I maintain a real life. I currently live in the City of Brotherly Love (even though it doesn’t seem that way at times) Philadelphia, Pa. I’ve recently graduated from college with my Bachelors of the Arts in journalism. I currently work at a Deli until I can find myself a real job which I hope will be…well, doing this. There’s nothing more I would love to do than write about video games and meet the people who put in the work behind them.

I’m also an avid reader of all of J.R.R Tolkien’s works. It’s like being a biblical scholar, but instead I can tell you the moral lesson of the Curse of Hurin (believe me, it’s a lot to explain). And no I won’t be offended by jokes about Frodo and Sam’s sexuality. If you thought the movies made it seem questionable you should read the books. It’s almost blatant.

Beyond my love for video games and Tolkien, I’m a lover of meteorology as well as earth and space science. I follow the weather patterns and the patterns of star constellations. I’ve also recently taken up Dungeons & Dragons (again) and I’m currently attempting to create a dungeon and, maybe, my own campaign.

The essentials for creating your own world.

Woooo! Well everybody that’s everything to know about me. As I continue to write for Non-Fiction Gaming you’ll find out more about me and, hopefully, I’ll get to know some of you. I’m looking forward to sharing my knowledge with all of you, as well as joining the team here at Non-Fiction Gaming. Cheers.
